In 2012, YSJ Design partnered with global company Autodesk working alongside the education programme team to develop concepts for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). The project entailed designing a number of periodic table characters (Argon, Californium, Gadolinium, Helium, etc ) and bringing them to life through animations.
A complete online education toolkit was created for secondary schools to download from the Autodesk AREA website. These contained virtual set designs, characters, and tutorial videos to help support education systems. The content allowed participants to creatively alter movements and design their own 3D movements whilst learning about science.
The project progressed to using existing 3D assets and transferring them into AR content pushing innovation. Below was a prototype created for students to download and trigger 3D periodic table characters who spoke to their audience about their unique attributes.
